5 Myths About CBD
There is a lot of chatter and discussion about CBD and its benefits. However, with that chatter comes several myths that end up circulating throughout the country. Unfortunately, myths most frequently associated with CBD are highly untrue and deter people from using this beneficial substance.

5 Myths About CBD

Some of the most common myths about CBD include, but certainly are not limited to, the following:

You can get high by taking CBD

People are not wrong to associate the marijuana plant with the ability to get high, as for decades marijuana has been used to do just that. But when it comes to CBD, the thought that consuming it will produce a high is one of the many myths about CBD. Yes, both CBD and marijuana can come from the same plant, the cannabis plant.

However, CBD does not contain nearly enough THC (the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana) to produce any type of mind-altering high. The legal amount of THC allowed in CBD is 0.3%, which again, is not enough to produce any effects of being high. Some CBD products, particularly those derived from hemp, do not contain any THC at all. Therefore, people can take CBD safely and without the risk of creating a high. If you are worried about consuming any amount of THC due to a sensitivity or other concern, you can simply choose CBD products labeled broad-spectrum or CBD isolate. These products do not have any THC in them whatsoever.

CBD is illegal

Another one of the most common myths about CBD is that it is illegal because it is derived from the marijuana plant. CBD, however, does not have any mind-altering qualities nor does it create any notable physical or psychological damage upon use. CBD is legal in the United States as a result of the Agriculture Improvement Act of 2018, as long as it does not contain any more than 0.3% THC.

Something to be aware of is that it is not always possible to travel with CBD even though it is legal in the whole country. Marijuana-derived CBD especially may cause problems for you if you travel with it across state lines so just be aware of any relevant rules and regulations while traveling.

CBD makes you sleepy

CBD possesses several beneficial qualities, including the ability to help increase a sense of calmness and relaxation — especially in those with anxiety disorders. But just because something can aid in relaxing a person does not mean that it induces sleep. CBD is commonly mistaken as a substance that, when used, will deplete your energy and put you to sleep. CBD does not do that and it can be taken at any point of the day or night.

This myth may come from the fact that CBD has been said to help improve sleep. Some people report using CBD to fall asleep easier or stay asleep longer but these abilities are generally attributed to CBD’s anti-anxiety properties.

Water Soluble CBD

Rapid Absorption. Rapid Uptake.

The water-soluble quality of this product makes it simple for the body to quickly absorb the CBD, allowing for benefits to occur right away. This product is ideal for those who want to incorporate CBD into their routine while at work or in social settings, as it can be taken discreetly.

Everyone can use CBD

The appeal of CBD is that it can help treat a variety of different conditions and ailments. That appeal is so bright and shiny that people tend to ignore the fact that not everyone can use CBD without certain risks. Specifically speaking, it is not recommended for people who are taking antidepressants to also take CBD at the same time. That is because the interaction between the two can make both less effective. So, if you are taking any type of prescription medication, especially antidepressants, it is important to check first with your healthcare provider before taking CBD.

Some people may also have an allergy to CBD that prevents them from using it, though this is not common. You can get tested for a CBD allergy if you are very concerned or simply start with small doses and monitor your reaction for any negative effects.

Just a little bit of CBD will do the trick

CBD is a supplement that can be taken in all types of doses. Those who are starting with CBD might start with a small dose, but likely need to gradually increase how much they are taking to feel the effects. The body can build a tolerance to CBD that will require the user to take more to feel the same effects. Every person’s body chemistry is different, so a dose that might work for one person might not be enough for another.

If you are using CBD and not feeling the desired effects, don’t be afraid to increase your dose. CBD is non-addictive and you can use whatever amount you need. No one has reported a CBD overdose so that's not something you have to worry about like with other pain relievers. Sometimes one dose a day will not be enough for your specific symptoms or concerns. You can experiment with different doses at different times to see if that helps or try out various methods of consuming CBD.
