Cannabis Oil vs. Hemp Oil: Which One is Better?

It is a common misconception that cannabis oil and hemp oil are the same things. Of course, people are going to think they are the same, as the hemp plant (like the marijuana plant) is a variety of the cannabis plant. Not all varieties of cannabis produce the same effects as the marijuana plant, which is known for its mind-altering qualities. Hemp oils and cannabis oils are widely used throughout the country because they provide several benefits but do not cause users to get high when consuming them. If you are looking to incorporate cannabis oil or hemp oil into your regular regimen, being aware of the differences between the two can help you find the product that will work best for you.

Cannabis Oil vs. Hemp Oil

Cannabis oil and hemp oil are made from the same plant. This is one reason why so many people think that they are the same. However, the cannabis plant has several components, meaning that depending on which part of the plant the oil is derived from, it can be used for different purposes.

Hemp oil comes directly from the hemp seeds of the cannabis Sativa plant. Cannabis oil is made from the leaves, stocks, and buds of that same plant. The buds (or “flowers”) are known to produce tetrahydrocannabinol or THC. THC is the psychoactive ingredient in the cannabis plant. Cannabis oil contains more THC than hemp oil, as the hemp plant produces minimal THC (often to the point where it cannot even be detected). As a result, hemp oils can be an ideal option for those who do not want to have any traces of THC in their system, even if they would not produce any mind-altering effects. Cannabis oil also has very low levels of THC since it is federally required to have less than 0.3% THC by weight but it will often have some. THC in these low amounts can be beneficial in its own right so it’s worth carefully considering both cannabis oil and hemp oil as potential options.

These are the base-level differences between cannabis oil and hemp oil. The most important differences between the two lie in how and why they are used.

Hemp Derived CBD + MCT Oils

MCT Oil made from coconuts rapidly converts into keytones that help fuel your brain and muscles. They generate long-lasting energy to power your mental and physical workouts.

Cannabis Oil vs. Hemp Oil: Which is Better?

Neither cannabis oil nor hemp oil is a “better” product than the other, however, they are used for completely separate purposes. Hemp oil is mostly used as a nutritional supplement or in the production of clothing or other fibers. This is because hemp oil is high in omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids and antioxidants. Cannabis oil, however, is used for several other purposes.

Cannabis oil is sought out by people who are looking to calm the symptoms of their anxiety or depression, alleviate physical pain, improve sleep, and even aid in a healthy diet. These are merely just some of the many potential uses of cannabis oil. Cannabis oil is therapeutic both physically and psychologically. It is fast-acting, so users experience relief for their symptoms very soon after use and can use as much of the product as they need. Cannabis oil is safe to use even in very large quantities every day if a person wants since it is not possible to overdose on it.

Both oils are beneficial in their own right. The type of oil that you buy should fit your needs. Therefore, if you are looking to get to sleep and stay asleep at night, you will want to try cannabis oil. If you want to improve your heart health, you will benefit more from hemp oil and so on. Having this information can help you determine which oil is going to be best for you.

More research into exactly how these oils affect the body is still needed but anecdotally, people are very pleased with their benefits. They interact with the endocannabinoid system in the body which is responsible for many bodily functions including pain management, sleep, and metabolism. This is why both cannabis oil and hemp oil can provide the benefits they do. Often, there are additional ingredients alongside the key ingredient in these oils and they may provide their own added benefits to the user. You can read ingredients lists on any oils you are considering buying to see what else they contain and see how they might help you.

Before introducing either of these products into your routine, be sure to check with your healthcare provider or trusted medical professional. While they generally have only minor side effects, if any, they could potentially produce unwanted reactions. Some people may be allergic to one or both of these oils. Also, if you take prescription medications such as blood thinners or antidepressants, the oils may cause them to be less effective which can be very dangerous. Your doctor should be able to tell you whether it’s safe for you to use one of these oils.
