5 Myths About CBD

by | Jan 4, 2021 | CBD Education

There is a lot of chatter and discussion about CBD and its benefits, however with that chatter comes a number of myths that end up circulating throughout the country. Unfortunately, myths most frequently associated with CBD are highly untrue and deter people from using this beneficial substance.

5 Myths About CBD

Some of the most common myths about CBD include, but certainly are not limited to, the following:

You can get high by taking CBD

People are not wrong to associate the marijuana plant with the ability to get high, as for decades marijuana has been used to do just that. But when it comes to CBD, the thought that consuming it will produce a high is one of the many myths about CBD.

CBD does not contain nearly enough THC (the psychoactive ingredient in marijuana) to produce any type of mind-altering high. The legal amount of THC allowed in CBD is 0.3%, which again, is not enough to produce any effects of being high. Some CBD products, particularly those derived from hemp, do not contain any THC at all. Therefore, CBD can be taken safely and without risk of creating a high.

CBD is illegal

Another one of the most common myths about CBD is that it is illegal because it is derived from the marijuana plant. CBD, however does not possess any mind-altering qualities nor does it create any notable physical or psychological damage when used. CBD is legal in the United States as a result of the Agriculture Improvement Act of 2018,  as long as it does not contain any more than 0.3% THC.

CBD makes you sleepy

CBD possesses several beneficial qualities, including the ability to help increase a sense of calmness and relaxation — especially in those with anxiety disorders. But just because something can aid in relaxing a person does not mean that it induces sleep. CBD is commonly mistaken as a substance that, when used, will deplete your energy and put you to sleep. CBD does not do that and it can be taken at any point of the day or night.

Water Soluble CBD

Rapid Absorption. Rapid Uptake.

The water-soluble quality of this product makes it simple for the body to quickly absorb the CBD, allowing for benefits to occur right away. This product is ideal for those who want to incorporate CBD into their routine while at work or in social settings, as it can be taken discreetly.

Everyone can use CBD

The appeal of CBD is that it is able to help treat a variety of different conditions and ailments. That appeal is so bright and shiny that people tend to ignore the fact that CBD cannot be used by everyone without risk. Specifically speaking, those who are taking antidepressants are not usually recommended to also take CBD at the same time. That is because the interaction between the two can make both less effective. So, if you are taking any type of prescription medication, especially antidepressants, it is important to check first with your healthcare provider prior to taking CBD.

Just a little bit of CBD will do the trick

CBD is a supplement that can be taken in all types of doses. Those who are starting out with CBD might start off with a small dose, but likely need to gradually increase how much they are taking in order to feel the effects. Every person’s body chemistry is different, so a dose that might work for one person might not be enough for another.
